Business Administration Apprentice, Rutland Adult Learning & Skills Service

We are one big family with everyone's interests at heart.

1. What attracted you to RCC?

Working for the council and the fact that there are lots of different career opportunities. Also, the apprenticeship scheme itself was a real draw for me, allowing me to gain a recognised qualification whilst working.

2. What makes RCC different to other employers?

There is so much knowledge in the council grouped into one. There are also great career prospects and a fantastic pension scheme and benefits package.

3. What do you love most about working for RCC?

I love the variety in my role and working with such a supportive team.

4. How long have you been with RCC?

I joined the apprenticeship scheme when I was 19 in April 2018 and gained my Business Administration Level 2 Diploma, and I have recently started my level 3 Diploma. Previously I worked in retail for 2 years.

5. What is your current role and what does it involve?

As a Business Administration Apprentice I perform many administrative tasks. I also work on the 'management information system' uploading key data and running reports. My duties include receptionist work – both face to face and on the telephone. My line manager has recently involved me in exams administration and I've worked on a number of projects which has given me a chance to meet lots of different people across the council.

6. What skills / abilities are essential for your role?

I believe you need to be professional, friendly and approachable with good communications skills and have a good standard of IT skills.
